Warranty and care
Most blinds need only regular dusting or vacuuming and the occasional deep clean. Keep real wood and fabric dry, never scrub clear PVC, and operate blinds gently and straight. The care guide below covers each type of blind we supply.

How do you look after each type of blind?
| Blind | Routine care | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Roller blinds | Vacuum with a soft brush attachment; spot-clean marks with a damp cloth. | Soaking the fabric or machine washing; rolling up while damp. |
| Day and night blinds | Vacuum gently on both sides. Dust collects between the layers, so a periodic deep clean helps. | Pulling the layers apart; soaking the fabric. |
| Aluminium venetian blinds | Wipe slats with a damp microfibre cloth; avoid bending them. | Bending slats; abrasive scourers. |
| Wooden venetian blinds | Dust with a soft cloth or duster. Keep real timber dry. | Water on real timber; leaving it in steamy rooms. |
| Vertical blinds | Fabric vanes: vacuum gently. PVC vanes: wipe with a damp cloth. | Pulling vanes off the track; soaking fabric vanes. |
| Panel blinds | Vacuum with a soft brush; spot-clean with a damp cloth. | Forcing panels past each other; soaking the fabric. |
| Roman blinds | Vacuum gently with a brush attachment. Most can't be machine-washed. | Machine washing; pulling the cords unevenly. |
| Honeycomb blinds | Vacuum gently with a brush attachment; blow dust out of the cells with a hairdryer on cool. | Crushing the cells; wet cleaning. |
| Outdoor patio blinds | Rinse with clean water and a soft cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners on clear PVC. | Abrasive pads, solvents or glass cleaner on clear PVC; rolling up wet. |
| Motorised blinds | No cords to tangle. Battery motors need charging now and then. | Forcing the blind by hand; letting batteries run completely flat for long periods. |
How do you make blinds last longer?
- Raise and lower blinds fully now and then, so the fabric or slats don't set in one position.
- Lower blinds slowly and straight. Pulling a chain or cord at an angle wears the mechanism.
- Keep blinds raised or dry them out after rain or condensation, before rolling them up.
- Keep cords and chains secured out of reach of children, with a cord tensioner or cleat.
- If a blind sticks or runs crooked, stop and ask for help rather than forcing it.
When dusting is no longer enough, see blind cleaning or read how often blinds should be cleaned.
